Happy 2026 New Year!

This year, I want to work with matter itself — not just pigments or paper, but the overlooked, the discarded, the things that don’t belong in the places they end up. I want to use found objects to speak about how pollution infiltrates habitats, how it hides inside the cycles of the seasons, how it enters the bodies of animals and the quiet places we think are untouched.

I feel called to create installation sculptures that shift with the seasons. Winter, spring, summer, autumn — each one revealing a different layer of intrusion.

✧ 6. Partager quelque chose

In winter, objects are half‑buried, disguised by snow, pretending to be part of the landscape. In spring, they emerge with the melt, tangled in roots and runoff. In summer, they sit boldly on the surface, exposed and undeniable. In autumn, they blend again with fallen leaves, becoming almost natural in their wrongness.

I want to collect these objects with intention — plastic fragments, rusted metal, fishing line, bottle caps, threads, broken tools, things carried by wind or water. Not to shame or accuse, but to witness. To show how easily human debris becomes part of an animal’s world, part of a nest, a burrow, a stomach.

My installations will use found objects to reveal what the land absorbs, what it rejects, and what it quietly carries. I want to expand beyond my comfort zone, but in a way that feels safe, grounded, and true.

---

✧ 1. Explore a New Environment (Gently, Safely) • Visit one unfamiliar place — a shoreline, a forest trail, a small town, a gallery. • Create one artwork inspired by that environment. • Let curiosity lead without losing my grounding.

✧ 2. Work With Found Objects as Material • Collect discarded objects with intention: plastic fragments, rusted metal, fishing line, bottle caps, threads. • Use them to express how pollution infiltrates habitats and seasonal cycles. • Let the bee be a symbolic guide — fragile, essential, threatened.

✧ 3. Create a Seasonal Installation Series • Winter: objects half‑buried, disguised by snow. • Spring: objects emerging with the melt. • Summer: objects exposed, undeniable. • Autumn: objects blending with leaves, almost natural in their wrongness.

✧ 4. Try a Material That Feels Slightly Uncomfortable • Sand, thread, coloured bags or pieces of fabric, wire, twigs, rocks, styrofoam… • Let the discomfort become curiosity.

✧ 5. Make One Artwork That Feels “Too Bold” • Larger scale, brighter colour, more contrast, or more vulnerability. • A piece that surprises me.

✧ 6. Share Something • A sketch, a process moment, a fragment of text. • A gentle risk.

✧ 7. Collaborate Once • With someone I trust — an artist, writer, musician, photographer. • A small collaboration that expands my world.

✧ 8. Visit One Art Space Outside My Region • A gallery, museum, or artist‑run centre. • Let another artistic ecosystem influence me.

✧ 9. Create a Series Based on an Emotion I Usually Avoid • Longing, joy, uncertainty, nostalgia, restlessness. • Let emotion guide palette and form.

✧ 10. Allow One Uncontrolled Experiment • Wet‑on‑wet ink, melting ice pigment, wind‑drawn charcoal. • Let chance co‑create with me.

✧ 11. Submit My Work to One Opportunity • A call for artists, a small exhibition, a digital showcase. • Enough to stretch me, not overwhelm me.

✧ 12. Create a “Courage Ritual” • A breath, a phrase, a candle, a gesture. • A reminder that expansion can be safe, slow, and chosen.

Blog Judydcreates

https://www.judydcreates.com/art-communities-communaute/blog-judydcreates

https://www.judydcreates.com/art-communities-communaute/blog-judydcreates#comments

Uncategorized

December exhibition and Christmas marketThis December, I was present in two vibrant spaces that connect art, ecology, and community. From December 1 to 31, my recent paintings are exhibited at Galerie Josette Tilmant in Saint‑Sauveur. Ten canvases inspired by northern landscapes and Montréal roots invite reflection on ecological realities, offering a calm, festive pause for visitors and holiday travelers.

On December 6, I will be there in person at the Matagami Christmas Market, selling my 2026 bilingual art calendars, art cards, and a selection of small and medium paintings. These creations are thought
as gifts that carry ecological themes into daily life—artworks that nourish and celebrate the season.

As a member of VaHumania animators within the network of Tourisme Baie‑James, my practice is rooted in the region’s cultural and ecological identity. Visitors can also discover the territory’s experiences and attractions through Tourism Baie‑James, Eeyou Istchee Baie‑James, that showcase events, landscapes, and regional vitality baiejames.ca

December becomes a bridge between gallery walls and market tables, between contemplation and celebration. I look forward to meeting you, sharing stories, and marking the holidays with art that connects.
